The Ajman Police have arrested three persons - including an Arab and a Canadian - on charges of possessing and promoting fake currency in the emirate.

Colonel Abdullah Saif Al Matroushi, deputy director of the General Department of Police Operations at Ajman Police, said that they were informed that an Arab, and some others, possessed counterfeit dollars and that they were looking for a person who could buy them.

A team of criminal investigation swung into action and set up surveillance. They laid a trap to arrest the suspects. The undercover policemen agreed to buy $20million for Dh8million. The accused and two other persons came to the site and they were arrested. The three accused were referred to the prosecution.

While praising the efficiency of the police in nabbing the accused, Al Matroushi called on the public to report and inform the police if they encounter any criminal activity or any act punishable by law.
