His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to Twitter to convey his message of hope for the New Year.
On his official twitter account @HHShkMohdm Shaikh Mohammed thanked everyone for an incredibly eventful year full of successes and major developments.
"Dear brothers and sisters, with the year 2016 comes to an end with its achievements, challenges, successes, projects and developments, I would love to say thank you to everybody, who made it a different year - distinct and vigorous," Shaikh Mohammed tweeted.

"I wish everybody a Happy New Year ... A year of goodness, giving, development and growth. Hope the year 2017, God willing, be a year of goodness for our beloved country, for our society, families and children.
"And to all nations and friendly countries, we would like to say to them Happy New Year. We look forward to a better world and a more beautiful future to all in 2017," Shaikh Mohammed added.
