As temperatures plunge, low-income families feel pinch. However, the Umm Al Quwain charity association has been there for them.
The leading charity society, located at Al Ruadah area, has distributed winter clothes, of different sizes, to 200 low-income families in the emirate and nationwide.
Blankets have also been contributed with the winter clothes, according to Eissa Bulheul, acting director of the association. "The timely winter clothes, part of the 'Touch of warmness', are in line with the Year of Zayed," said Bulheul.
With the distributed parcels, including all winter clothes needs and blankets for 200 families, the total number of low-income families targeted will grow to 500, he disclosed. "The Umm Al Quwain charity association spares no effort to provide warm clothes to indigent and low-income families on a regular basis to meet their needs in such cold weather."
The Association has also contributed foodstuff packages to 100 deprived families, he stated. "Such kind gesture would not have been possible without philanthropists support."
Adding, he said that they contribute Dh350,000 to 85 university students of low-income families on an annual basis. "These students are not only based in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain but also stay in other emirates."
"These are added to 100 students enrolled in different schools of the emirate of Umm Al Quwain."
The Association has also distributed school bags and stationeries for 3,000 students, mainly orphans and members of indigent families, he pointed out. "These were also part of the initiative."
