A four-wheel-drive car caught fire and was gutted in a house at the Salma residential area in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain on Monday afternoon.
On being alerted about the incident, the central operations room of the UAQ Police dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in record time.
Official sources with the UAQ civil defence department told Khaleej Times that the SUV went up in flames around 3pm.
The fire first caught the engine of the vehicle, and almost spread to its entire body.
"The engine of the car was totally destroyed in the blaze," they added. "However, none was hurt in the incident."
Investigations are on to ascertain the reasons behind the fire, they said. "The incident has been referred to the authorities concerned for legal action."
Early this July, a heavy truck was gutted in a fire on the Emirates Road in Umm Al Quwain.
A four-wheel-drive vehicle was burnt to ashes in the industrial area of the emirate of Umm Al Quwain on June 30.
Two cars were also destroyed in a fire at the Old Umm Al Quwain city in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain on June 26.
