The Najmat Taiba or Star of Taiba, the world's heaviest gold ring, will be the attraction at the upcoming 39th MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
Made by Taiba Gold and Jewellery of Saudi Arabia, the 58.686 kg gold ring is studded with 5.17 kg of Swarovski stones and has received a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records and an endorsement by the World Gold Council.
"The ring was created in 2000 and cost nearly $550,000 when the gold price was $250 per ounce. Its value has multiplied several times by now, with gold trading near $1,150. I am sure the ring will generate tremendous buzz among visitors to the show," said Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, chief executive officer, Expo Centre Sharjah.
Najmat Taiba has a perimeter of 2,200mm, a 700mm outer perimeter, a 490mm inside diameter, a 500mm back width, and a 250mm width at the bottom. The exhibition will be open from October 6 to 10 from 12pm to 10pm from Saturday to Thursday and on Friday from 4pm to 10pm with an exclusive timing for ladies from 12pm to 4pm on Wednesday. Admission is free for all.
