His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered bonus payments of Dh10 million to Emirati owners of 5,000 old taxi plates operated by Roads and Transport Authority in Sharjah.
Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, director of transport affairs, RTA Sharjah said in a statement, this step comes in line with the directives of Sheikh Sultan and his keenness to provide the citizens with a decent living for them and their families. The total annual compensation for taxi owners will be Dh42 million, he added.

Al Jarwan explained that an amount of Dh2,000 is being paid for each owner bringing a total of Dh10 million as an annual bonus, in addition, the authority is committed to paying compensation of Dh32 million per year at a rate of Dh2.7 million per month.
An amount of Dh500 compensation will be paid for every car operating within the city and Dh1000 for every vehicle operating outside the city, he added.
