Pecker is a key witness in the case against the former US president, who is accused of falsifying business records to cover up hush-money payment
The police were notified about the body by a butcher working at a neighbouring shop at 8.15am. The police rushed to the area and lifted forensic evidence and retrieved footages from CCTV cameras in the area.
Another butcher at the mutton shop told Khaleej Times that his colleague -- the person who discovered the crime -- arrived at the shop at 7am. Around 8am, he heard the victim's screams. He rushed out to see a bleeding victim staggering out of the shop. He fell on the ground and died on the spot.
The witness did not see the suspect, who fled the spot. He immediately notified the police, who arrived at the spot in less than five minutes.
Abdul-Aziz Ali, the brother of the victim, said he and his victimized brother Mohammed Ali have been living in the UAE for 30 years and decided to establish supermarket business in Maysaloon and other areas.
"My brother Ghfoor and the victim used to run Majestic Supermarket for more than 10 years and they never had any problem and never faced any issues. They were loved by the people in the neighbourhood and they managed to maintain large number of customers."
He added that his brother works in the morning shift and opens the shop at 7:30 am and works until 2 pm, after which another brother Ghafoor manages the shop until 11:30 pm.
He said his victimised brother "had no enemies but we believe that motivation of the murder is theft".
He said that his brother's shop has no cameras, but the police managed to review the camera installed in a book shop. The footage shows an Asian man entering the shop and running out of it. The police have now launched a manhunt for the murderer.
Abdul Aziz said he is very sad and is yet to inform the victim's family, comprising two daughters and a son, living in Kerala, India.
They are planning to repatriate the body after police complete the formalities and investigation.
