Sharjah - "Emirati Night" at SWMF 2017 will showcase spectacular local acts on 14 January

The fourth edition of the Sharjah World Music Festival 2017 (SWMF 2017), is bringing two incredible Emirati acts to stage - the Nagham Al Emarat band and Emirati artist Jasem Mohamad on 14 January to the 1000-seat amphitheatre in Flag Island, one of Sharjah's most iconic landmarks and tourism sites.
Nagham Al Emarat is talented young local band, which specialises in the Classical Arabic genre of music. Using a motley mix of musical instruments, they will enthral the audience with a harmonious blend of traditional and oriental musical pieces, including Andalusian classic music (Muwashahat), and Qudoud, which are popular forms originating from Aleppo.
Through their talent and dedication, they have been able to promote a new-found appreciation for local music and a musical culture among the younger Emirati community. Their high-quality performances characteristic of great musical harmony has been showcased on several occasions at many national occasions and concerts.
Artist Furat Qaddouri, Manager of Sharjah World Music Festival, said: "Through the SWMF platform, we have been keen to highlight the talent of young Emiratis, and support and enable them to represent the UAE on various Arab and global forums. Nagham El Emarat is an exceptionally talented music group who possess the creative talent and capability, which will herald a bright future for them."
The next act on the 'Emirati Night' is artist Jasem Mohamad, best known for his Arabian Gulf music. He was born in Fujairah, and has released many songs, participated in concerts, music festivals and theatrical performances along with the most celebrated Gulf and Arab artists.
Concert tickets are priced at AED 250 and AED 350 each for General Admission and VIP categories respectively, and can be purchased at the customer service counters of Al Qasba, Flag Island, Al Majaz Amphitheatre and Al Majaz Waterfront. The fourth edition of Sharjah World Music Festival will run from the 6-14 January 2017 in celebration of the best Arabic and Western musicians and bands from 13 countries. Every year, the SWMF hosts a collection of renowned singers, musicians and artists. Although the concerts' titles and languages may differ, they all converge at one place, Sharjah, and fulfil their overarching purpose of entertaining and enlightening visitors from several countries and walks of life.
By organising this first of its kind festival, Furat Qaddouri Music Centre seeks to boost the cultural and art presence of Sharjah and the UAE, introduce various musical cultures around the world to the UAE community and add a new dimension to the emirate's repertoire of tourist, art and culture attractions.
