A UAE consular section and a new visa processing centre have opened up in Indian capital New Delhi.

They were opened by undersecretary of the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation Mohammed Mir Abdullah Al Raisi.

This is the sixth visa issuance centre of its kind that has opened to process UAE visas outside the country.

The opening ceremony was attended by Najeeb Jung, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi; Ahmed Elham Al Dhaheri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Banna, UAE ambassador to India, along with top officials from India.

Opening a new consular services section aimed at facilitating the procession of UAE visas to individuals and residents in India is likely to beef up the entry of Indians to the UAE by expediting the procedures to let them get access to the country through all electronic gates at the UAE's ports.

The consular section and the 6th visa processing centre in New Delhi have been designed to reinforce the cooperation ties at the consular sector and enhance the customer service, as well as speed up the process for Indian labours to get entry to the country over its e-gates, said Al Raisi.

Junq said opening a consular section and a new visa processing centre in New Delhi is deemed a key achievement, which can help cement the bilateral relations between India and the UAE.

The tasks entrusted to the new visa processing centre are to check the authenticity of the applicant's passport, taking the biometric data and eye scan of the applicant as well as scanning all 10 fingers, facial scan alongside the pre-arrival medical tests, which can be availed at 10 medical centers in New Delhi.
