Charity donates $200,000 for orphans in Palestine

(Wam) / 6 October 2013

The UAE’s Human Appeal International (HAI) has provided $200,000 to some 1,000 Palestinian orphans’ families in Ramallah and Al Beira in the West Bank.

Ibrahim Al Rashid, Director of the HAI’s West Bank office, said the donated money was distributed among the beneficiaries in the presence of Azmi Al Ajouli, Head of the Zakat Fund at the Palestinian Endowment Ministry.

Al Rashid added that the orphans’ aid project is part of the agency’s strategy to provide a safety net for 20,000 Palestinian families with a total annual amount of $10 million.

On his part, Al Ajouli expressed thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its efforts to help vulnerable groups in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The Red Crescent Authority (RCA), the UAE’s humanitarian major, has sponsored some 6,000 Palestinian orphans in the past 15 years.
