Two suffer burns in Sharjah factory fire

Afkar Abdullah / 5 March 2013

Two Bangladeshi workers received moderate burn injuries in a fire accident that occurred in a metal
smelting company located in Sharjah Industrial area No 10 on Monday.

Fire fighters rushed to the scene of the accident and doused the fire in an hour.

The Sharjah Police patrol and ambulance provided the injured workers with first aid and took them to the hospital.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Sharjah Civil Defence, said the fire erupted in the factory’s waste dump at 10.30am on Monday. As soon as the operations room received the information, firefighters rushed to the spot and contained the fire.

They also started cooling operations at 2pm.

He added that the site will be handed over to the forensic experts for investigation.
