RCA aid to Bopha battered areas

(Wam) / 9 June 2013

The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation to the Philippines, led by Mohammed Abdullah Al Hajj Al Zarouni, has reached the victims of Typhoon Bopha that recently hit the region of Mindanao.

Al Zarouni distributed the first batch of assistance to the victims in the presence of the UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, Mousa Abdul Wahid Abdul Ghafar Al Khaja, along with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Gordon. He added that the first batch of the aid was distributed to about 500 Filipino families living in tents, noting that they were displaced by the devastating Typhoon Bopha (known locally as Typhoon Pablo).

Al Zarouni also said the RCA relief aid targets the regions located in New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province in Mindanao, due to the devastating typhoon, which hit it few months ago.

The UAE ambassador said the RCA team will be present in the affected sites to extend support to those affected by the typhoon so as to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants in that region.
