UAE initiates diplomatic relations with Micronesia

The UAE and the Federated States of Micronesia have signed a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The relations will be in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18, 1961. The communique was signed on September 8.
The signing ceremony took place at the premises of the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations (UN) in New York. Lana Nusseibeh, Ambassador and UAE Permanent Representative to the UN, signed the communique on behalf of the UAE. Jane J. Chigiyal, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Federated States of Micronesia to the UN, signed the communique on behalf of her government.
The joint communique, which was signed in both Arabic and English, and a copy of which was deposited at the UN, referred to the mutual desire of the two countries to promote mutual understanding and strengthen friendship and cooperation.
