RAK Ruler opens John Smith seminar

Ras Al Khaimah - The UAE, Shaikh Saud added, is among advanced countries in terms of preparing leaders of the future.

His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, on Saturday opened the John Smith Trust Ras Al Khaimah Colloquium at the Al Hamra Convention Centre.
In a speech, he said that the UAE, led by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, presented a unique model in empowering the youth and women to assume positions at the federal government and the private sector.
The UAE, Shaikh Saud added, is among advanced countries in terms of preparing leaders of the future.
The opening was attended by Baroness Ashton, chair designate of the Trust and former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; the British Ambassador, Philip Parham; Baroness Smith of the Trust; the Regional Director of the British Council, Adrian Chadwick; Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Zaabi, Second Deputy Speaker of FNC and Ahmad Yousuf Darwish Al Nuaimi, member of the Federal National Council.
The event is an introductory one for the 24 new associate fellows joining the fellowship from the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. It consists of a series of workshops, lectures, induction sessions and networking events linked to the themes of the John Smith Trust, which revolve around good governance, the rule of law and leadership. - Wam
