A real estate broker admitted in court on Monday that he hit a party guest with a fire extinguisher resulting in skull fractures.
According to prosecution records, the 45-year-old Briton wanted to stop the Emirati victim and his friends from walking into a party.
According to the forensic report, the victim was left with a partial brain damage after the attack. He has been suffering recurrent epilepsy episodes and has become very aggressive and nervous, the report said.
The injury is considered permanent. An initial report showed that he sustained a very serious injury which could have been life-threatening. He arrived at the hospital in a critical condition. The incident allegedly happened on February 14, last year. The complainant, an employee, 30, said during the investigation that he was invited to a friend's birthday party at a suite in a hotel.
"I went with two friends. The defendant opened the door for us. He asked me why I brought my friends."
He added: "Even though I told him that my friend would not mind, he stopped us from going inside. He said it is not for free." The complainant then threw his wallet at him saying he was willing to pay for his friends.
"He shut the door before he suddenly opened it again. He then hit me with a fire extinguisher on the eye and head." The complainant fainted and woke up later in his friend's car. The 39-year-old Emirati manager, who was throwing the party, quoted the accused as telling him prior to the incident that the victim slapped him.
