India sends official to fix snags in workers' recruitment

The Indian government has sent a top official to the UAE to solve issues related to online recruitment system for Indian workers here.
AK Agarwal, secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, held a meeting with leading employers from Dubai and Abu Dhabi at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to get their feedback to solve the glitches in the recently implemented eMigrate recruitment system.
According to Dinesh Kumar, First Secretary (Community Affairs) at the embassy, the foreign employers appreciated the Indian government for implementing the system that has brought in more transparency in the recruitment process.
However, "they said there are certain areas to be addressed and certain reforms are required to make the process of application even faster," Kumar told Khaleej Times.
He said the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, TP Seetharam was also present at the meeting.
"We have received the feedback from the companies and will further simplify the system for faster processing of applications," said Kumar.
As an immediate solution to the issue of eMigrate not listing all job categories mentioned in the UAE's local system, he said, the secretary asked the employers to send a comprehensive list of job categories with the minimum referral wages so that they can all be added on the eMigrate portal.
