For the first time, Indians in Dubai and Northern Emirates will be able to participate in a mega carnival to celebrate their country's 67th Republic Day.
The carnival to be held on the evening of January 26 is one of the three major RD celebrations that the Indian Consulate in Dubai is organising in collaboration with the Indian High School, Dubai and volunteers from the community.
Announcing the details at a Press conference on Tuesday, the Consul-General of India for Dubai and Northern Emirates Anurag Bhushan said the carnival is an attempt to showcase the connect of the Indian community from various states here among themselves and with their mother land.
"We will have snippets of cultural programmes and stalls showcasing cuisines of about 15 Indian states," he said.
Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag will be the chief guest at the carnival to be held from 5.30pm to 9.30pm at the Indian High School ground, said CEO of the School Ashok Kumar.
"On January 25th morning, we are also holding a patriotic song relay by students from 20 schools across the UAE," he added.
Indian missions in the UAE will also hold separate flag hoisting ceremonies at their premises.
The entry is free for expatriates who wish to take part.
