A 113-year-old Emirati journalist passed away on Saturday. Musabeh bin Obaid Al Dhahiri - one of the first journalists in the UAE - founded a local newspaper called 'Al Nakhi' in 1934.
He shut it down "to avoid the British colonialists, who were dissatisfied with my political articles".
Musabeh learnt writing, reading and math from the late Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayd Al Nahyan - the paternal uncle of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Musabeh's life was an example of giving and success that was coupled with determination, persistence and patience.
He was a leading media personality. He was the first to build a two-storey mud house. He was also the first to open a Shabi coffee shop in Al Ain.
