Two Emiratis have raised the UAE flag in Antarctica, as part of a 10-day international expedition which explored renewable and alternative energy sources around the world.

Saeed Mohammed Al Nuaimi and Amira Al Hammadi also put up photographs of The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Al Nuiami said that the trip aimed to raise awareness on environmental issues and the effects of global warming, as well as identify the level of damage caused by increasing water levels in the oceans, and seek renewable and alternative energy solutions.
