Temporary hotel stay for Torch Residents has been extended for one more day as inspections for the cause of the fire of the building is ongoing.
The Torch Tower caught fire on August 4, around midnight, and residents were provided temporary accommodation in hotels such as Media One, Intercontinental, Raddison Blu and in a hotel near Sports City.
The inspections by Dubai Civil Defence and CID has been ongoing for three days now, since the incident occurred. This is not the first time the Torch Tower caught fire. In 2015, the building went up in flames .
Media One hotel was asked by Kingfield Owner Association, the firm that looks after Torch Tower, to extend the stay of 94 residents for one more day. Khaleej Times was also able to confirm this news from the general manager of the hotel, Mark Lee.
"We maintain a very good relationship with Kingfield. As part of our interaction with the community, we were asked by authorities that some residents of the Torch Tower will be coming over. Our team immediately went into action to ensure that all of the rooms were made available for them," Lee said.
The manager at Intercontinental hotel in Dubai Marina also confirmed to Khaleej Times that residents are staying there. The rooms have been booked on a day-to-day basis and the manager of Intercontinental, Antje Sahling, confirmed that residents are staying there tonight (Sunday) as well.
