Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) is Dubai's biggest summer citywide celebration and is back with its 21st edition this year. As Dubai has flourished as a shopping destination, so has DSS. "We have more mall partners confirmed this year, and there are more sales, deals, events and experiences in store for visitors than ever before," says Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), in an interview with Dxbuzz.
There are a host of retail offers and experiences created especially for DSS that residents and tourists can enjoy this year. "Highlights of this year's DSS include a daily exclusive Deal of the Day offer, weekly surprises at different shopping destinations and a Final Weekend Sale," he adds.
There are also a variety of promotions this DSS and plenty of opportunities for shoppers to win big. Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group is offering customers a month of golden surprises until July 8 across its stores citywide, from incredible discounts, buy-one-get-one-free offers to special gifts with purchase. The Dubai Shopping Malls Group is giving shoppers the chance to win one of six luxury Infiniti Q50 cars every week of DSS with its exclusive 'SHOP & WIN A Dream Drive' raffle promotion on every spend of Dh200 at participating malls.
"Dubai's retail sector continues to grow, thanks to our strategic partners' ongoing efforts to diversify their mall and retail offerings. We are lucky that here, shopping malls are no longer purely retail destinations and instead they cater to the lifestyles of their diverse consumer mix, offering a mix of retail, F&B, entertainment and attractions. Other trends we're witnessing include a rise in homegrown brands and experiential activations that are being designed within retail spaces to enhance consumer engagement," notes Khaja.
In addition to super sales and deals, there is plenty on offer to keep families entertained all summer long, including citywide attractions at some of Dubai's top theme parks, mall activities and entertainment, concerts, comedy shows and the return of everyone's favourite character, Modhesh.
Modhesh World
This year, Modhesh World, the edutainment indoor theme park, is back bigger and better than ever. "We've added two additional halls to the Modhesh World area in Dubai World Trade Centre and many more F&B offerings for all. Many new promotions and raffle prizes have been introduced for visitors to enjoy, including a Spin the Wheel promotion to coincide with the start of DSS and prizes up for grabs including a car, shopping vouchers and other exciting gifts," Khaja says.
There's also a Happy Pass available on weekdays from 10am-2pm, where visitors can enjoy entrance and unlimited play for a very reasonable price.
It is interesting to note that there's something for everyone at every age at Modhesh World this year; there's a jam-packed schedule with fun and excitement including rides, slides, zip lines, and old funfair favourites such as bumper cars, water slides, trampolines, mini trains, parades and more.
"The 19th edition of Modhesh World this year is testament to our mascot's longstanding history in Dubai. Those who have grown up in Dubai have grown up with Modhesh, and every year we welcome more little ones to experience the joy that Modhesh and Modhesh World can bring," he notes.
The tagline this year, 'My Modhesh. My World', represents a journey of immersive and exciting experiences that embody the venue and themes that Modhesh is now known for. The experience is not only for kids, but also their families. There's something for everyone at Modhesh World. In many ways, Modhesh's World truly is everyone's world.
