Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) saved a Nepalese teenager who tried to commit suicide by jumping off the fourth floor of his apartment located in Al Karama area.
The DCAS were informed about the suicide bid in time. A team of DCAS swung into action and reached the building within 5 minutes from Bur Dubai.
The paramedics - Shabi Kassem and Mark Tories - went into the teen's apartment. On seeing them, the boy made a desperate attempt to throw himself off the window. However, the agile paramedics acted swiftly and saved the boy from falling down.
Even though half of his body was hanging precariously out of the window, the paramedics caught the boy by his feet and lifted him up carefully. After having done so, they calmed him down, while providing the boy first aid. They then took him to Rashed Hospital.
Manager of DCAS Taleb Ghaloum Taleb emphasised that the corporation equips its paramedics and drivers with skills to make them act efficiently and quickly during an emergency. The services provided by DCAS aim at saving people's lives, he noted.
