It's been two years since Dubai-based Japinder Kaur's debut film 'Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend' hit UAE screens. The 28-year-old Indian director is making headlines again, this time for a modern-day fairytale engagement in Dubai with hotelier Harpreet Singh Chadha.

Their big fat Punjabi pre-wedding celebrations, complete with live singers and entertainment, were held at Dubai's iconic Burj Khalifa and 7-star attraction Burj Al Arab.

While gawking at their pictures of pre-wedding ceremonies, one can only imagine how grand the week-long wedding in November is going to be.

Speaking with Khaleej Times, Japinder said "The wedding will most likely be held in mid-November. We haven't decided the venue yet but it will definitely be in Dubai. We are thinking of celebrating at the World Islands."

The event will be no less grand -- the star attraction being a shower of rose petals from a helicopter, she added.

Highlights of the pre-wedding ceremony

Following the prayers at the Jebel Ali gurudwara on January 8, guests gathered for a 4-course lunch at Atmosphere on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa. The bride-to-be wore an aqua green coloured Faraz Manan outfit adorned with Colombian emerald set, solitaire bracelets, kadas, bangles and earrings.

The 'Roka' ceremony at 'Gold On 27' in Burj Al Arab on the same day saw the presence of guests such as Her Highness Shaikha Hend Al Qassemi, Ajay Kapoor (ex-T series director) and many other prominent business tycoons. Japinder wore a Swarovski studded pink Cindrella gown.

The look was enhanced with a tiara studded with diamonds, a royal floral hand bouquet, and a solitaire necklace-earrings set valued at more than Dh3 millions. A full hand diamond flower cuff completed the look.

The guests were placed at Dubai's Palazzo Versace Hotel with Rolls Royce phantoms and limousines at their service. The swanky cars included Mercedez G63 AMG limousine and a 30 seater golden Hummer limousine.

The family had around 70 guests for their lunch at Burj Khalifa and 200 guests at the Burj Al Arab party. At the wedding in November, they are expecting around 800 to 1,000 guests, Japinder added.

Japinder, an Indian director, graduated from Manipal University in Mass Media, specialising in films and television, followed by a course in filmmaking at Mumbai's Whistling Woods. She later assisted Prakash Jha in Aarakshan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.
