Dubai Tour: Key roads to be closed today, check diversions

Dubai - Motorists have been urged to plan ahead due to road closures for the race.

Dubai Studio City, home to regional and global companies in the broadcasting, entertainment and production sectors, was chosen as a key destination along the Dubai Tour 2018 route.

Majed Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Studio City, welcomed participants of the fifth edition of the international competition as they cycled through Dubai Studio City.

Established in 2013, Dubai Tour is a professional cycling event that brings together some of the best cyclists from across the globe. Organised by Dubai Sports Council in partnership with RCS Sport and Events, this year's race drew the participation of 16 teams from countries including Kazakhstan, Bahrain, the USA, and the Netherlands.

Set to conclude on 10th February, Dubai Tour 2018 will witness the racers cycle more than 850 km across the UAE - through Dubai, Hatta, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah.
Motorists have been urged to plan ahead due to road closures for the race.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed its plan for organizing the 6th Dubai Tour 2018 which comprises of five stages over five consecutive days from Feb 6.
The action started today at 11:00am and will continue until 03:30 pm. The race spans 870kms starting from Dubai to all emirates of the UAE.

Stage 3

The third stage begins on Thursday,  February 8 and spans over 190kms.
It starts from Skydive Dubai at King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Street and passes through Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Academic City Street, Al Aweer Road and Hatta-Oman Road and through to Sharjah and then Al Fujairah.

The alternative roads for this stage are Abdullah Omran bin Taryam Street, Hessa Street, Al Thanya Street, Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Ras Al Khor Street, Al Aweer Road, Dubai-Al Ain Road, and First Al Khail Road.

The RTA and Dubai Police advised the public to use mass transport to access the event venue. In a series of tweets, the RTA, suggests the motorists to use alternative roads or to take public transport to the event.
