A Dubai expat was recently reunited with her long lost dog after four years apart, according to K9 Friends, a Dubai-based non-profit voluntary organisation that shelters, re-homes and rescues dogs.
In a Facebook post dated July 31, K9 Friends noted that the dog - Rikky - had disappeared four years ago after being lost while being looked at by neighbours.
"Almen (the expat) never gave up hope that one day her dog would return to her, but despite extensive searches there was no sign of him," the post noted.
"Then, two days ago we reposted a picture of Dusty who had been given to us by the Dubai Municipality and had been in our shelter for over four months."
Almen immediately reached out to K9 Friends in the hopes that 'Dusty' was, in fact, Rikky.
"The microchip numbers matched and when the two were reunited there was no doubt that Rikky/Dusty remembered his owner," K9 Friends added.
"He was delighted to see her and the two of them treated us to a Polish song."
Rikky is now safely back at home with his "mum".

"Who knows where he was between disappearing four years ago and his arrival at the Dubai Municipality," K9 Friends noted in the Facebook post.
"However, one thing is for sure. Never give up hope if you lose as pet, as amazing things can happen."
