Celebrating blue collar workers in Dubai

Dubai - Around 2,500 employees from 35 different nationalities gathered to take part in the annual event

If you have ever noticed the cleaners, security guards or technicians working around us amid the rush of your daily routine, you might have noted that all of them come from different parts of the world to this country, just to make a living.
Be it daytime work or a night shift, they put their heart and soul into the job, for the sake of their livelihoods and making our lives simpler in the process.
Now, a few caring souls in Dubai have decided it's their duty to do something extra for these blue collar workers, to show the appreciation for their efforts.
To mark a special day for its thousands of blue collar employees, EFS Facilities Management organised a mega carnival at King's School in Al Barsha, Dubai. Around 2,500 employees from 35 different nationalities gathered to take part in the annual event aimed at recognising its workers' achievements. The fun-filled evening saw games, performances and a raffle draw, thoroughly enjoyed by the men and their families.
This is the third year the carnival is being held. Tariq Chauhan, Group CEO of EFS Facilities Services, thinks it is very important to value not only their professional growth but also their personal development. He said: "We regularly conduct training sessions covering money management, personal hygiene, and English-speaking classes, apart from the cultural events and activities".
Jetcel Estrada, a technician working for the company, got a surprise all-expenses opportunity to bring his mother to Dubai for a visit, fully arranged by the company. He said: "I am very excited; this is a lifetime opportunity to bring my mother to Dubai and attend this year's carnival. The event is a celebration for all of us and we have been counting down to this for months".
Recently, another Dubai based company had organised a monthlong carnival for its labourers. In October, Keir Dubai LLC arranged an exclusive event with activities including cricket, football, badminton etc. The company's administration manager Mohamed Salim said: "It's a sort of family outing for them and through these events, we encourage them to work with a lot more enthusiasm. It also helps develop a bond between the employer and employees," Salim said.
