The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution has issued an arrest warrant for two persons for posting their video clip online showing them in military uniforms and making indecent gestures. The video apparently went viral.
The clip, the Public Prosecution said, showed the two men donning military uniforms and making outrageous indecent gestures that showed disrespect to the military uniform and the national service, which is seen as an honour by recruits.
The Public Prosecution affirmed that the clip is an insult to the honour of military service at a time when the UAE Armed Forces were exerting tremendous efforts in instilling values of principled and valued commitment in the UAE citizens.
The Public Prosecution said while the Armed Forces were also preparing Emirati citizens physically and academically to enable them to serve their homeland, some irresponsible persons were behaving improperly.
The Public Prosecution emphasised that it swiftly acted to deter this abusive act in order to set an example for others that degrading the military values and damaging its reputation tantamounts to insulting the country and can lead to dire consequences.
