Dubai Police rescued a 12-year-old girl after she called on 999 to report a complaint against her mother for torturing her.
The victim care department at the Qusais police station helped the girl after receiving a call on 999.
Colonel Ahmed Thani bin Ghalita ,Director of Qusais police station said that the department has tackled four cases of child abuse, including the case of Jawhir who called the police.
The victim care employee took her to the Dubai Foundation for women and children after they learnt that her mother was wanted in many cases. She was arrested by the police and sent to jail for financial crimes.
He said that the victim care section had visited children in hospitals and home.
The section has handled cases including the case of a girl who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by a driver, but later denied. The police found that the girl was under stress, which led her to think that the driver was abusing her.
