A businessman who allegedly sexually harassed a pharmacy employee at her workplace, denied a molestation charge in the Court of First Instance on Monday.
The 36-year-old Indian businessman is accused of taking advantage of the fact that he was alone with the pharmacy employee, also Indian, to grab her by the waist and pull her towards him against her will.
The incident allegedly happened on August 13.
The employee, a 24-year-old Indian, said she was doing her shift when the man came and got alone with her in the purchases section. "He pulled me towards him, but I broke free from him. And then reported him," she told the prosecutor.
She identified him later at the Bur Dubai police station.
The defendant admitted during the public prosecution investigation that he did not know the woman prior to the incident. He confessed that when he went to the pharmacy he put his arm around her waist and pulled her towards him. He said it was only meant as a joke and said he knew she was not okay with what he did.
The hearing has been adjourned to October 24.
