An airport worker was charged with theft after stealing expensive items from passengers' luggage while transporting them to the plane, Dubai Court of First Instance heard on Monday.
The 21-year-old Nepali, who works for a company that transports luggage to flights at Dubai International Airport, confessed to stealing expensive items from different baggage.
A police officer had testified to prosecutors that his colleague arrested the defendant at the checkpoint when he found a watch with him. The defendant confessed to prosecutors and the court to stealing the watch.
A gold anklet, yellow and black gloves, Ray Ban sunglasses and 10 Egyptian pounds and 100 Russian rubles were also found in his pockets upon his arrest.
When asked by the officer, the defendant admitted stealing the items from different pieces of luggage. He also admitted to stealing three other watches, headphones, a cell phone, an earring and a phone charger, which were found in his accommodation in Al Quoz industrial area. 
A ruling in the case will be announced on July 27.
