The medical report pertaining to the psychological test done on NML who killed his 50-year-old mother, MG, in June last year, showed that he is mentally ill and that he was emotionally disturbed.
The report issued by Al Amal Hospital said the 29-year-old NML is "irresponsible" as he is psychotic and has a speech disorder. The medical committee conducted several tests after the occurrence of the crime - in August, November and March this year. Also, the accused had been admitted to Al Amal Hospital last year for mental illness.
According to the report submitted to the Sharjah public prosecution, the patient suffers from emotional problems, loss of vision, lack of comprehension and speech problems.
It was also mentioned that the patient was admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Denmark in 2010 and was diagnosed with "acute psychosis". However, after some time he refused to continue treatment.
During the police and public prosecution interrogation he confessed that he killed his mother, a Danish citizen of Lebanese origin. The defendant lived with his mother in Al Nakhla Tower in Al Mamzar area.
The incident
According to court records, the police discovered the decomposed body of the mother only when they went to the defendant's flat to make him pay for some items he had stolen from a supermarket in Al Mamzar area at knife point.
The police arrested the defendant and escorted him to his flat so that he could get money to pay for the items. But once outside the apartment, the police got a bad odour, and on searching the flat, they discovered the partially decomposed body.
During interrogation, the defendant told the police that his aunt had called from Lebanon informing him that his mother was practising witchcraft. He claimed to have found some papers that "proved" she was practising it.
He told the police that he covered his mother's mouth with his hand as she slept and slit her throat. He added that he was fully aware of what he did and had no regrets.
According to forensic reports, the deceased had been killed 10 days before the police found the body. She suffered a neck wound and cut in the windpipe accompanied by bleeding that led to her death. The son had been living with the corpse for 10 days.
