High school topnotchers in the UAE, as well as students of determination, will be granted full scholarships at Ajman University (AU), as the school rolls out Dh20 million worth of tuition discounts to mark its 30th anniversary.
Dr Karim Seghir, chancellor of AU, said a 100 per cent discount on tuition fees has been approved for high school toppers and students of determination nationwide, while discounts of up to 40 per cent shall be granted to CBSE and GCSE graduates.
High school students with a CGPA of 99+ per cent shall be awarded a 50 per cent discount, while those with a 90+ per cent CGPA shall be entitled to a 20 per cent discount.
"Scholarships of 100 per cent discount shall be granted to the best achievers in AU colleges," Dr Seghir said.
"And out of its commitment to social responsibility, AU has approved full scholarships with 100 per cent discount on tuition fees for determined (special needs) students." The AU staff members and their relatives are eligible for a full discount, too.
Aiming to encourage students to continue their graduate studies, AU also offers discounts of up to 20 per cent for those who would want to take up a master's degree in Arabic language, said Dr Seghir.
The university's alumni and their first-degree relatives, on the other hand, can avail of master's and PhD programmes at 50 per cent off.
Scholarships of up to 20 per cent shall also be given to the relatives studying at AU, he said.
A 20 per cent discount shall be awarded to the employees of Ajman's local and federal departments, and "scholarships of up to 100 per cent shall be given to new and old students selected by the Ajman Ruler's Court."
Since its inception in 1988, AU has adopted a comprehensive system where scholarships, discounts and financial aid of up to Dh20 million are granted every year.
