Ajman Police have arrested two Africans who stole Dh450,000 from a car belonging to a GCC national who left it in his vehicle and headed to a shop located on one of Ajman industrial area roads.
The car owner informed the criminal investigation department (CID) after he found the robbers had broken the vehicle's front glass window and stole the money kept inside it.
Major Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, deputy director of the CID, said that as soon as the police were notified about the robbery, an investigation team was formed to launch a probe after collecting evidence and fingerprints.
The police tracked the whereabouts of the suspects and legal procedures were carried out to arrest them. On being interrogated, the duo confessed that they had transferred the stolen money to their country.
The two suspects have been arrested and will be referred to the public prosecution. The police are working on retrieving the stolen money and hand it over to its owner.
"We urge people not to keep huge sums of money or valuables in their cars. They should be wary after withdrawing money from banks or ATMs," Al Nuaimi said.
