FUJAIRAH � The Fujairah Court of Appeals on Tuesday reduced the jail sentence of a man, whose car hit two men and injured them while he was driving under the influence of alcohol, from four months to one month.

He was also fined Dh1,000.

The incident happened in front of a petrol station in August. The man fled the scene as two Indians suffered minor injuries. The police who were informed arrested the driver shortly after the incident. Liquor bottles were seized from his car. His urine sample tested positive for alcohol consumption.

The prosecution charged him consumption of alcohol, driving under the influence of liquor, causing injuries and possession of alcohol. The Court of First Instance sentenced him to four months in jail. He appealed the verdict at the Appellate Court, which reduced the jail term to one month and fined him Dh1,000.
