Threat Lands Businessman in a Spot
Mary NammourDUBAI — A business partner threatened a woman that he would kill her if she did not take him as husband, a court heard on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old Algerian partner was brought to the Court of First Instance on a threat charge.
The plaintiff, aged 31, alleged that the defendant was constantly stalking her.
She claimed that on August 30, she went out with her mother. While driving she noticed the defendant following them to the Century Mall Centre.
“We parked our car in the parking and went to a supermarket inside. We were shopping when he came to us. I told him that I did not want to talk to him,” the complainant told the prosecutors.
She alleged that he then threatened her that he would kill her if she did not marry him. “I told him I would call the police and he ran away,” the woman claimed.
The plaintiff’s mother said in her statement that there were previous disagreements between her daughter and the defendant over marriage.
She alleged that on August 30, they were on the road heading to the mall when they spotted him following them. “I told him that everything is possible except forced marriage,” the mother said.
She also said that he threatened her daughter.
