Five Emiratis Chosen for Top Emirates Appreciation Award
Adel ArafahABU DHABI Five UAE nationals, who have been chosen for this years Emirates Appreciation Award for Arts, Science and Literature, will be awarded by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during the National Day celebrations on December 2.
The five awardees are Dr Isa Bastaki in sciences (electronic engineering), Dr Mohammed Yusouf in plastic arts, Dr Masoud Badri in research studies, film director Abdullah Al Manaiei in arts, and Ibrahim Mohammed Ibrahim in poetry.
“The recognition of the winners in the presence of Rulers of the Emirates underlines the determination of the UAE leadership to celebrate innovators in all fields,” said Bilal Al Bedour, executive director of Culture and Arts in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development.
Al Bedour 373 innovators, including 65 in sciences, 94 in research studies, 119 in plastic arts, 53 in performing arts, and 42 in literature, had competed for the honour. The jury based its judgment on a set of criteria including personal talent, contribution to community welfare, interaction with the world and influence in the field of specialisation.
The Emirates Appreciation Award for Sciences, Arts and Literature carries cash prize of Dh200,000, gold medal and an appreciation certificate.
The award is granted to the UAE nationals who are nominated in the five categories of sciences, literature, research and studies, plastic arts, and performance.
