Photography Contest for Youth Launched
ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) has launched a photography competition for youth aged between 16 and 21 years.
The competition is open to all residents in the UAE. There is no specific theme for the competition. The participants are required only to come up with good-quality pictures and fresh ideas.
Participation is free and follows the terms and conditions of Emirates Photography Competition (EPC), the senior annual photo competition of ADACH. The best picture nominees will compete for the EPC main prizes.
Badr Al Numani, director of the competition, said, “Launching this competition is part of ADACH’s five-year strategy that aims to turn Abu Dhabi into an international hub for culture and arts. The competition is one of ADACH’s efforts to support the national identity and preserve the heritage. It aims to upgrade the technical level of young talents by providing them with the latest developments in the world of photography and display art works that reflect new trends.”
The competition will examine the photographer’s skills to pick the subject. Light spread, photo angle, clarity, artistic vision, the aim of the image, attention and the use of technology will also be under the scrutiny of judges. Participants have to apply through the competition’s website and the first four winners will be given prizes, the first prize being Dh12,000. Deadline for entries is January 15 and results will be announced at the same time as the main EPC.
