SHARJAH � Naemullah produced a tidy all-round performance to guide Yogi Group to a narrow five-run victory over ABL in the first Al Dhaid floodlit tournament for the Conmix T-20 Cup at Al Dhaid Village.

In other matches of the tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, ECB Blue and Lanka Lions recorded identical nine-wicket victories over their respective opponents ETS and SCC Academy while Lahore Gymkhana got the better of Sharjah Club by 40 runs, a press release said. Naemullah did a star turn for Yogi Group with an inspired showing with bat and ball. The all-rounder first smashed 35 and then snared three wickets for just 15 runs to help his side seal a tense win.

Batting first, Yogi Group made a challenging 138 for five. Avadoot (29) and Bilal (25) remained not out after a solid start given by Naemullah. ABL, in reply, had their moments, but failed to provide finishing touch to the match despite a brilliant innings of 47 by Asif.

ECB Blues, a side which supplies most of the talent to the UAE team, called the shots at will against ETS. They first shot out ETS for just 76 and then raced to the modest victory in just six overs. Amjad Ali (30 not out) and Iqbal (28) led the batting charge after a good spell of three for 11 by Qasim Zubair, who was later named man of the match.

ECB Blue beat ETS by nine wickets: ETS 76 all out in 18.2 overs (Gul Jamil 20; Qasim Zubair 3-11, Qadir Nawaz 2-14, Ahmed Raza 2-19) ECB Blues 80 for one in six over’s (Amjad Ali 30 not out, Iqbal 28). Man of the match: Qasim Zubair of ECB Blues.

Lanka Lions SC beat SCC Academy by nine wickets: SCC Academy 81 all out in 18.5 overs (Rohit 24, Jahangir 19, Lushan 3-4, Lasantha 3-5, Oshadha 2-17) Lanka Lions 85 for one in 10.1 overs (Marlon 39, Oshadha 16). Man of the match: Oshadha of Lanka Lions.
