Wednesday, November 04, 2009

DUBAI — Dubai-listed du said on Tuesday that it has become the first UAE telecom services provider to bring Facebook Mobile Texts to its users, giving them easy access to the wide range of unique communication options offered by Facebook.

The company said its subscribers can now provide status updates, and send messages, pokes, wall posts and friend requests via SMS, as well as post pictures and videos via MMS using the new service. Users can also sign up to receive free SMS notifications from Facebook, including new message alerts and friends’ status updates, according to their preferences.

“There are no sign-up charges for using Facebook Mobile Texts, which is currently only available to du subscribers,” a statement said. “Many UAE residents use Facebook to stay connected, share information and communicate in a fun, personalised way, and more people are signing up every day” said Farid Faraidooni, EVP Commercial, du.

“In response to customer needs, we are introducing Facebook Mobile Texts so that our mobile users can enjoy all the benefits of Facebook wherever they are, at any time. Facebook Mobile Texts is accessible to people with or without 3G handsets, helping all our customers connect with their families and friends faster and easier than ever before.” business@khaleejtimes.com
