Q. What types of Bachelor’s degree qualification are available in Malaysia?

A. There are many options to acquire a Bachelor’s degree qualification in Malaysia;
• You can acquire an identical foreign university degree qualification from any of the 4 branch campuses set up by Foreign Universities.
• You can also acquire internationally recognised foreign degree qualifications from the Private Colleges that conduct ‘3+0’ programmes where the entire 3-year degree course of the foreign partner university, is done in Malaysia.
• Malaysian universities’ home grown qualifications are also well-accepted by many countries.

Q. What is the entry requirement to study a Bachelor’s degree in Malaysia?

A The general acceptable qualification for entering year 1 of a Bachelor’s degree programme is 12 years of education (eg. GCE A-levels) and be proficient in the English language. The medium of instruction in private higher educational institutions in Malaysia is English.

Q. Where can I pursue Postgraduate studies in Malaysia?

A. Postgraduate Degree programmes in Malaysia (both the taught-course and research based) in Malaysia are abundant in choice and are offered at very competitive fees.
• Government-Funded Public Universities which offer Research-based Qualifications
• Private Colleges, which offer foreign postgraduate qualifications in collaboration with overseas partner universities in the USA, UK and Australia.
• Private universities, which offer home-grown postgraduate courses
• Branch Campuses of Foreign Universities (UK & Australia), which offer Internationally-rated qualification.

Q. Is the education in Malaysia of quality?

A. All courses offered by the approved institutions have to go through a thorough evaluation by the national quality agency, as required by the Malaysian education law, before they are allowed to commence. This national agency guarantees the quality of education. Many of the institutions that conduct foreign degree qualifications also subject to quality audit by the respective home quality agency.

Q. How do I apply to study in Malaysia?

A. There is no centralised application agency; you need to apply directly to the institution of your interest or the institution’s representative office or the appointed recruitment representatives in your country or approach our education service centres located in Beijing (China), Dubai (UAE), Jakarta (Indonesia) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). The student counsellors are most happy to help you.

Q. How do I obtain a student visa?

A. It is simple and hassle free to obtain student visa to study in Malaysia. What you need is a confirmation of acceptance to study full-time in one of the approved institutions of higher learning. Thereafter, the institution concerned will help you apply for a student visa and pass for you to enter Malaysia to do your full-time study. The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia is the governing authority which can provide you a list of the approved higher educational institutions.

Q. Would I be able to afford to study in Malaysia?

A. It is very affordable to study in Malaysia. Your living cost per year can be as low as $2,900. You can acquire a 3-year business degree from a reputable foreign university branch campus operating in Malaysia for $14,600.

Q. Is there any financial assistance or scholarship award available?

A. Yes, most of the private higher educational institutions have some form of financial assistance for those academically excellent students.

Q. Are students allowed to work part-time while studying in Malaysia?
A. International students are allowed to do part-time jobs for a maximum of 20 hours per week in some designated sectors during their semester break while studying full-time in Malaysia, subject to immigration requirements.

Q. Is my family allowed to stay with me?

A. Yes, your parents, children and spouse can accompany you to stay in Malaysia for the entire study duration depending on your country of origin.
