The MIHAS will enter in its fourth
year this May and it promises to offer the most conducive
platform for those in the halal industry to penetrate
the global Muslim market. More than 500 exhibitors from
over 25 countries are expected to attend the country’s
flagship halal show to be held at Kuala Lumpur Convention
Centre from May 9-13 this year.
The event, aimed at facilitating and expanding the frontiers
of the halal market, is hosted by the Ministry of International
Trade & Industry (MITI) and organised by the Malaysia
External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
Staged annually since its inaugural in 2004, MIHAS congregates
the largest annual gathering of international halal
industry players and entrepreneurs to facilitate the
sourcing and selling of quality halal products, from
food and beverage, food chemicals and emulsifiers, pharmaceuticals
and herbal products to cosmetics and health care. Being
a successful and highly focused halal trade fair, the
event becomes a unique platform to attract world buyers
and to showcase Malaysia’s credibility in halal
processes adding the right amount of value to it.
Thus, MIHAS stands as the best entry point and gateway
through which forward looking businesses can develop
strategic partnerships, introduce their products and
penetrate the global Muslim market. The presence of
prominent buyers especially from Malaysia and its ASEAN
neighbours allows global halal entrepreneurs to gauge
receptiveness to their products and its feasibility
to enter the huge ASEAN market.
With a proven track record, this international trade
fair continues to attract global attention especially
among buyers from prominent hypermarket and supermarket
chains, important wholesalers, importers, retail consultants,
entrepreneurs, captains of industry and influential
policy makers from countries across the globe. This
has equipped MIHAS with the extra edge to break through
barriers to enter young developing markets committed
to serve the needs of the halal consumer and to reach
a quality-conscious generation seeking quality halal
food products.
MIHAS showcases not only food alone but also halal financial
services. It embraces halal in all its dimensions by
encouraging and providing opportunities for halal financial
services through Islamic banking instruments, based
on a system which reflects the socio-economic values
in Islam. Opening doors for halal trading opportunities,
MIHAS facilitates it further by presenting global halal
industry players with halal financial alternatives to
conventional financial instruments. The halal industry
can gain from interest-free financial instruments available
to help entrepreneurs in their commitment to offer Muslims
a wider variety of truly halal products.
In preparing to organise the MIHAS 2007, Malaysia promises
an even greater experience. The global halal industry
holds immense potential and this international trade
fair will once again draw the world’s halal players
under one roof, bringing the halal market well within
reach. Industry presentations, seminars, market briefing
by foreign countries and demonstrations will also be
held concurrently with MIHAS, paving ways to meet, network
and trade with international buyers who seek new products
and ideas that the global halal market has to offer
only at MIHAS.
MIHAS is conceptually a ‘living’ platform
that offers continuity and innovative growth because
the absolute principle of observing the ‘halal’
factor constitutes a prescribed way of life and fulfills
an in-built requirement for Muslim communities worldwide.
Based on this, MIHAS has created the pathway –
both social and economic – towards exploring opportunities
for extending the halal parameters in doing business,
effecting trade and industry, penetrating markets and
enhancing global networking. The emphasis is naturally
to bring to fruition halal-compliant efforts in a bigger
market place.
MIHAS is designed to be permanently anchored in the
bigger scheme of things for the global Muslim population.
It is testament to the commitment of the Malaysian government
to serve the needs and challenges of the global ummah
in seeking quality halal products.
Malaysia invites the halal industry players of the world
to be part of this phenomenal growth and development.
At MIHAS, there are business connections to be made,
trade alliances to be forged and a greater understanding
of halal to be communicated. On a deeper level it is
about infusing quality, safety, cleanliness and transparency
in the global halal market. It is also about promoting
the importance of halal quality certification and long-term
consumer education to support halal certified products.
MIHAS 2007 presents a world of prospects, possibilities
and profitable opportunities that will inspire the halal
industry to move further beyond yesterday’s frontiers
of the halal market. For more information you can contact
