Special lanes for school buses

I hear a lot of parents complain that they are forced to use their own cars to pick and drop their kids from schools as they spend 90 minutes each way in buses which they feel is unsafe and not good for their health.

With the start of the new academic year, traffic issues related to morning rush hours are back. Kids are waking up as early as 5am in Sharjah, and are being picked up around 5.45am by buses. Highway traffic jams start even before it is 6am. Imagine the health impact on young ones? I would suggest his matter is taken up with both the KHDA and RTA. Here's my idea: allow the school buses to use the taxi/public transport bus lane.

If school buses are given priority over private cars by allowing them to use the public bus lane, they will move much faster and this will improve the traffic flow (especially on the Sharjah-Dubai highway). Also, RTA to should look at extending the bus lane all the way from the Sharjah border, near Tawun Road. This way, taxis and buses will move even faster, especially those that need to turn towards Mamzar, and save at least 15 minutes.
