Khaleej Times readers have given their verdict. Yes, we asked you in our KT online poll on Wednesday if the time has come for Pakistan T20 captain Sarfraz Ahmed to replace Azhar Ali as ODI captain.
Now after getting an overwhelming response from you, we are delighted to announce that 93 percent of Pakistani fans want Sarfraz to take over the ODI captaincy. Only seven percent of our readers wanted current captain Azhar to continue.
Pakistan have played a fearless brand of cricket under the aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed in T20 cricket. Ever since the Karachi lad took over the T20 captaincy, Pakistan have gone on to achieve four wins in four matches in the shortest format of the game.

After comprehensively beating England in the one-off T20 game in England last month, the Sarfraz Ahmed-led team was magnificent in the three-match T20 series against the West Indies in the UAE.
Their 3-0 win over the T20 world champions raised hopes in a country that was disappointed by their poor performance in the five-match ODI series against England.
Azhar, their ODI captain, is undoubtedly one of their best batsmen in Test cricket. But the shorter format of the game is not clearly his cup of tea. And his captaincy has also lacked imagination at crucial moments.
Several legendary Pakistani players see Sarfraz as the ideal player to lead Pakistan in all three formats of the game.
Misbah-ul-Haq, one of the finest servants of Pakistan cricket, is 42 now and it's unlikely that he will continue to play for more than one year.
That's probably the reason why Khaleej Times readers have identified Sarfraz as the man to lead their team in a more demanding format. Perhaps, they also want to see him as Test captain once Misbah hangs up his boots.
