DoT Abu Dhabi expands bus services in Eastern, Western Regions

The DoT has also introduced some modifications to existing routes in both regions in order to better serve the public.

In response to the growing needs for bus services amongst commuters in the Eastern and Western Regions of Abu Dhabi Emirate, the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi (DoT) announced that three new lines have been added to the bus services in the Eastern Region and another eight new routes in the Western Region.

The DoT has also introduced some modifications to existing routes in both regions in order to better serve the public.

Stressing the commitment of the DoT to provide a wider geographic coverage through bus services, Mohammed Nasr Al Otaiba, General Manager of the Bus Office at the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi, said, “These new services and route modifications have been implemented following a comprehensive study conducted by the DoT on all existing line services with an aim to address commuters’ needs of a world-class, convenient and almost round-the-clock bus transportation options.”

The DoT’s bus service fleet consists of more than 575 world-class buses, operating 18 hours per day to provide transportation services to more than 170,000 commuters. According to the DoT’s statistics, more than 18 million passengers were transported via buses in Abu Dhabi last year.
