Swiss Ambassador’s Award recognises notable efforts

ABU DHABI - The Swiss Ambassador’s Award 2012 was presented to several dignitaries at a ceremony held in Abu Dhabi.

Foreign Trade Minister Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi attended the ceremony held in the presence senior personalities. Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart handed the Award to Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs.

The award was also presented to Mohammed Al Suwaidi, managing director of Al Suwaidi & Company Dubai and vice-president of the Swiss Business Council Dubai Chapter. The Ambassador also handed awards to Habiba Al Marashi Founder and President, Environmental Emirates Group-Dubai; Dr Bertrand Piccard, president and initiator of the Solar Impulse Project-Switzerland; Yousuff Ali M.A., chairman of Emke Group-Abu Dhabi; and Dr Franco Vigliotti, Dean of EPFL Middle East in Ras Al Khaimah.

“I introduced the Swiss Ambassador’s Award in 2008 to recognise notable efforts of personalities who with their special and long-term commitments and efforts promote the relations between Switzerland and the UAE,” Bruelhart said.

The celebrations also marked the farewell of Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart and his wife Joy Vendryes.
