Such has been the brilliance of Virat Kohli that Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar believes the current Indian Test captain will soon break his record.
Gavaskar, who retired from the game in 1987, still holds the record for most Test centuries (11) by an Indian captain.
The former Mumbai opener hit 11 centuries in 47 Test matches that he captained India.

Next on the list is the elegant Mohammad Azharuddin who hit nine centuries in 47 Test matches that he led India.
Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar hit seven centuries in 25 Tests that he captained India.
But it seems the 27-year-old Kohli is soon going to break both Azhar and Sachin's records as he has notched up his sixth Test ton as captain with his brilliant 211 against New Zealand in the third Test in Indore.
The Indore match is only the 17th Test for Kohli as Indian captain.
And Gavaskar believes even his record is not safe from the brilliant Kohli.
"I think Virat will break my record in another six to 10 Test matches," Gavaskar told India's NDTV news channel.
"He will break my record soon. I mean we have five Test matches against England and four against Australia in India. I think before the home Test season ends for India, he will get there. He is an utterly self confident player," said Gavaskar, the first man to score 10,000 Test runs.
Kohli has already become the first Indian captain to hit two Test double centuries and the second Indian batsman to hit two double centuries in the same year after Tendulkar.
