Islamabad: Acknowledging that a strong lobby is active in Washington to block delivery of F-16 aircraft to Pakistan, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday the US is committed to provide eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.
"The Obama administration has pledged to supply eight F-16 fighter jets despite efforts by India and former Pakistani ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani to block the delivery," Khawaja Asif said while speaking in the National Assembly. He said together with Pakistani-made JF-17 Thunder plane, the F-16 aircraft have proved most effective in the ongoing anti-terrorism military operation.
