UAE is home away from home for 1.3 million Pakistanis, who frequently travel back home for the holidays or just to meet their friends and family.
Apart from Pakistanis, travelers from all over the world visit Pakistan to explore the country's rich cultural heritage and rugged mountainous north.
Hence, given the security situation in the country, it is essential to know the dos and don'ts of traveling to Pakistan.

Here are some general airport rules that you should know about:

- Do not carry any banned/restricted item/goods on board. Contact concerned Airline or its representative in this regard.
- Strictly adhere to the baggage weight limit policy and other instructions written on the airline ticket.
- Do not take any item, eatable, tea/drink etc from anyone/unknown person.
- Do not give/handover your hand carry bag/item to anyone.
- Register your complaint regarding loss, damage or theft of/from baggage immediately
to Airline or its representative on arrival at destination.
- Do not forget to bring your CNIC.

Pets

According to the Jinnah International Airport's official website, pets should be removed from their carrying cases. These cases will then be sent through the X-ray machine. Hold your pet in your arms and proceed through the metal detector.

Mind your language

Belligerent behavior, inappropriate jokes and threats will not be tolerated. They will result in delays and possibly missing flight departures.

Declare large volume of liquids

Medications, baby formula, food, and milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces (100ml) and are not required to be in the zip-top bag.

Hidden Disabilities

Persons with a hidden disability can, if they choose, advise security officers that they have a hidden disability and may need some assistance, or need to move a bit slower than others.
If you have implanted medical device, that you would like to remain private and confidential, ask the officer to please be discreet when assisting you through the screening process.

Film

Although most devices are digital these days, films are not commonly carried by passengers, but if you happen to be carrying film, make sure you keep undeveloped film inside your bags. Passengers need to declare film that is faster than 1000-speed to Airports Security Force (ASF) for physical inspection to avoid being X-rayed.

Religious and cultural items

These items are strictly not allowed in carry-on luggage. Jinnah Airport advises that items of this nature, including knives, swords and other objects, should be put inside check-in baggage.

Electronics

The airport discourages flyers from packing oversized electronics in checked baggage. This can be anything from video game consoles, cassette players, DVD players and such like. However, if they are being put in a carry-on baggage, flyers are informed that they must have these scanned.

Medicine

Any kind of medicine has to be properly screened by airport authorities before the flyer is permitted to carry them. Jinnah Airport advises flyers to seek a visual inspection from airport authorities. Otherwise, the medicine will have to undergo X-ray inspection.

The following are prohibited items

- Explosive and Flammable materials, disabling chemicals and other dangerous items. See full list of those items here.
