The fresh violation of the 2003 ceasefire agreement came a day after Pakistan alleged that seven of its soldiers were killed in firing from the Indian side.
Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS that the firing in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district started around 7 in the morning.
"Our troops retaliated effectively and appropriately. Firing exchanges continued in the area up to 11 a.m," the spokesperson said.
