UAE proposes to open consulate in Hyderabad

The UAE is keen on opening a Consulate cum Visa Processing Centre in Hyderabad, the country's ambassador to India has said.
The UAE Ambassador in India Dr Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Banna called on the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mohammed Mahmood Ali and sought his support for identification of suitable land in the city for locating the consulate.
"The city of Hyderabad and Telangana state are on high priority for our government, both for bilateral trade and opening of Consulate cum Visa processing Centers," Dr Al Banna said during his interaction with the deputy chief minister.
Speaking to the media, he said that the Government of the UAE considers Telangana state, especially Hyderabad city, as a focal economic point in India and for strengthening bilateral trade.
While assuring his full support, the Deputy CM reiterated the commitment of Telangana Government to facilitate the establishment of UAE Consulate in the city. As a big chunk of work force in the UAE belongs to Telangana, it has been a long-felt need to have a consulate in Hyderabad.
The deputy CM also briefed the visiting ambassador about the investment opportunities in the new state.
